The community today names itself mainly Arab Alevis. This is not the same structure as Anatolian Alevism. Love of the Ahl al-Bayt is shared; cem, semah, and the dede system are not.
The name Nusayri in historical and academic writing is an external label linked to Muhammad ibn Nusayr in the ninth century. The community almost never uses it of itself; it has often arrived from outside.
Fellah, “Arap uşağı”, and “Eti Türkleri” are period labels from others. They are not identity names here; they appear only in the historical sketch.
Living practice is built around ziyara (white-domed shrines are common), shaykhs, amcalık, Ghadir Khumm, and hırise.
